Sri Lanka’s fintech sector is gaining significant momentum with the recent appointment of Vardan Aslibekyan, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pay&Go, to the Board of Directors of Fintech Forum Sri Lanka. This leading industry body represents the country’s financial technology sector.
The appointment, extended by Channa de Silva, Chairman of Fintech Forum Sri Lanka, acknowledges Aslibekyan’s contributions to Sri Lanka’s digital payments landscape and his increasingly influential role within the fintech ecosystem.
Fintech Forum Sri Lanka collaborates closely with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, government institutions, international fintech associations, and private sector stakeholders to advance financial technology in the country. The organization serves as a platform to foster innovation, enhance industry collaboration, and support policies conducive to the growth of Sri Lanka’s fintech sector.
Aslibekyan’s appointment highlights the expanding role of Pay&Go in the nation’s digital financial services arena. Under his leadership, the company has developed a rapidly growing payment technology platform that integrates both digital and physical payment infrastructures across Sri Lanka.
Currently, Pay&Go serves over five million unique users through its diverse platforms, including a mobile application, POS network, kiosks, and web-based services. The company is continuously expanding its network of self-service kiosks and merchant payment terminals nationwide, facilitating seamless financial transactions for individuals and businesses.
Through this integrated platform, Pay&Go processes approximately 1.5 million transactions monthly, offering convenient and secure payment solutions across multiple channels. By combining mobile payments with kiosk-based services and merchant payment terminals, Pay&Go has created a hybrid payment ecosystem that bridges traditional financial infrastructure with modern digital technologies. This positions the company among the few fintech platforms in Sri Lanka operating across both digital and physical payment environments.
Fintech Forum Sri Lanka has also been instrumental in uniting industry leaders, regulators, policymakers, and innovators through its Fintech Summit. The inaugural event, held last year, successfully attracted key stakeholders from the financial services and technology sectors.
Building on the success of the first summit, the forum is preparing to host its second Fintech Summit in July this year, with expected participation from regional and international fintech leaders, investors, and policymakers.
