Sri Lanka Invests Rs131.02 Million to Enhance Jaffna’s Tourism Infrastructure

Sri Lanka is set to allocate an estimated 131.02 million rupees for the development of tourism infrastructure in the Jaffna District, according to Minister Nalinda Jayatissa. This initiative is part of a comprehensive tourism development program designed by the Department of National Planning, which is scheduled for implementation between 2026 and 2028, encompassing all nine provinces.

Minister Jayatissa announced that the Cabinet has approved the proposal to execute this tourism development program within the 2026-2028 timeframe, specifically highlighting the commencement of the tourism infrastructure development project in the Jaffna District in 2026.

The overall estimated budget to identify potential tourism destinations and enhance infrastructure across the country stands at 2,667.03 million rupees.
