During MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei is set to comprehensively upgrade its mobile transport solutions. This upgrade will focus on green ultra-broadband, congestion awareness, and network autonomy, addressing the new demands posed by evolving networks as they transition from 5G to 5G-A and 6G.

Currently, over 20 countries have allocated the U6G spectrum band for mobile communication networks. With its large bandwidth and wide coverage, the U6G band enhances 5G-A services, delivering ultimate rate performance and improved user experiences. The 5G-A network offers ultra-high-speed connectivity to better meet the business demands for mobile XR and cloud-based immersive collaboration, achieving user experience rates exceeding 10Gbps. This advancement will drive a tenfold increase in transport network traffic, necessitating an expansion in the basic bandwidth capacity of mobile transport. Traditional mobile transport networks, characterized by complex topologies with mixed deployments of microwave and fiber links—including ring, long-chain, and star topologies—are prone to bandwidth fluctuations due to weather conditions. Localized traffic growth leads to congestion, deteriorating user experiences and impacting user Data Usage (DoU).

To tackle these challenges, Huawei will introduce a new generation of 5G-A mobile transport solutions, emphasizing three key capabilities and value propositions:

Green Ultra-Broadband, Reducing TCO by 30%: This new series of base station routers provides 10GE/25GE to the site, 100GE for access rings, and the potential to evolve to 400GE, aligning with the long-term development of 5G-A and U6G. Through the integration of energy-saving technologies, the solution achieves lossless service performance with optimal power consumption, saving approximately 3 million kWh of electricity over three years for a deployment of 1,000 devices.

Congestion Awareness, Releasing 100% of Network Value: The solution incorporates built-in traffic congestion awareness. When combined with SRv6 and NCE intelligent management and control, it can identify congestion points and automatically generate optimization and expansion recommendations. By releasing suppressed traffic, it enhances user experience and enables operators to increase user Data Usage (DoU) by over 20%.

Network Autonomy, Improving O&M Efficiency by 20%: With built-in OTDR capabilities and Self-Diag algorithms to detect fiber faults, the solution achieves minute-level fiber break detection. This reduces the need for frequent manual site visits and improves fault location efficiency by 20%.

Huawei’s next-generation 5G-A mobile transport solutions aim to help operators build mobile transport networks with optimal Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), monetizable network capabilities, and efficient operations and maintenance. This development is expected to support the construction of Agentic MBB and capitalize on new opportunities in the AI era. As the industry looks toward future 6G evolution, Huawei remains committed to innovating in areas such as ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-high clock precision, and deterministic ultra-low latency. The new transport network is designed to accommodate future evolution requirements, ensuring long-term investment returns for operators while facilitating the current commercial monetization of 5G-A.
