UDA Launches ‘Mother Lanka’ Digital Platform to Boost Public Participation in Urban Development

The Urban Development Authority (UDA), under the Ministry of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development, today (16) officially introduced the “Mother Lanka” digital platform at an event held at the Sethsiripaya Auditorium in Battaramulla.

Led by Minister Bimal Rathnayake, the launch marks a significant step toward modernizing urban planning and service delivery through greater transparency, efficiency, and public involvement.

The interactive, multilingual platform (available in Sinhala, Tamil, and English) enables stakeholders including experts, professionals, and the general public to collaborate on building sustainable cities and communities. Users can access development projects, plans, regulations, and related information openly, while contributing views, suggestions, and feedback on urban issues.

Key features include real-time engagement, where public inputs and reported issues are reviewed promptly by UDA officer teams for action and solutions. The platform emphasizes privacy and data protection for all users, ensuring secure participation.

Technical development was supported by the UDA’s IT Department, with operational oversight from the Strategy Planning Department. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to advance Sri Lanka’s digital economy and promote inclusive, sustainable urban growth.

The “Mother Lanka” platform is now accessible at motherlanka.uda.lk, inviting citizens and professionals to engage in shaping the future of Sri Lanka’s cities.

This launch follows recent UDA digital advancements, such as the online payment system introduced earlier in 2026, reflecting the government’s push toward digitized public services.
