FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka’s government has revised the fuel quota provided under a QR code system, effective from tonight. Cars will now receive 25 litres, which is an increase of 10 litres from the previous allowance.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has announced the revised fuel quota for each type of vehicle as follows:
- Car – 25L
- Three-wheel – 20L (an increase of 5L from the previous quota)
- Van – 50L (an increase of 10L)
- Lorry – 200L (unchanged)
- Bike – 8L (an increase of 3L)
- Bus – 100L (an increase of 40L)
- Quadricycle – 8L (an increase of 3L)
- Special Purpose Vehicle – 40L (unchanged)
- Land Vehicle – 40L (an increase of 15L)
Sri Lanka’s government has reinstated a QR code system implemented during the 2022 foreign exchange crisis, along with an odd-even number petrol distribution system to address the fuel shortage, while continually asserting that fuel stocks are available.
