MAS Holdings, Sri Lanka’s largest apparel manufacturer, announced that two of its subsidiaries, Texo (Pvt) Ltd, a cotton fabric processing mill, and Noyon Lanka, a knitted lace manufacturer, have officially become bluesign® System Partners, marking a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to responsible, future-ready manufacturing.
With these two facilities achieving bluesign® System Partner status, 75% of MAS’s wet processing facilities are now aligned with the highest compliance standard available for responsible chemical management, supporting the company’s Plan for Change 2030 sustainability roadmap.
Becoming a bluesign® System Partner involves significant commitment and investment to align a facility’s processes and operational standards to some of the highest available global benchmarks. The designation follows comprehensive independent assessments by bluesign® technologies, which evaluates production processes, including knitting, dyeing, finishing, scouring, extrusion, and laminating, against strict environmental, health, and safety criteria.
The bluesign® System is a globally recognised framework that uses advanced chemical management technology, data-driven tools, and supply chain oversight to eliminate hazardous substances at the source, reduce resource use, and ensure safe working conditions throughout textile production. As bluesign® System Partners, Texo and Noyon are now part of a global network of manufacturers participating in this system, the alignment to which is an important strengthening of MAS’s local supply chain.
“This milestone demonstrates MAS’s continued commitment to embedding verified, data-driven sustainability processes across our operations,” said Dhanujie Jayapala, General Manager – Environmental Sustainability at MAS Holdings. “bluesign® System Partnership is a certification that represents an ongoing journey of transparency, continuous improvement, and accountability to our brand partners and the industry at large.”
Through the partnership, Texo and Noyon will operate under bluesign’s® Input Stream Management System, ensuring only bluesign®-approved chemical products are used in production. The facilities will also leverage bluesign’s® digital platforms, including the CUBE, FINDER, and GUIDE, to enhance chemical traceability, performance measurement, and continuous optimisation.
“We are delighted that two more MAS facilities have become bluesign® System Partners. We warmly welcome Texo and Noyon to the bluesign® family,” said Barbara Oswald, Chief Commercial Officer at bluesign®. “We are very pleased that the goals of MAS and the bluesign® vision are aligned, and that we can work together to reduce the environmental impact across the textile supply chain.”
MAS first announced its bluesign® system partnership alignment in 2023, when MAS Fabrics – Intimo became Asia’s first seamless textile mill to achieve bluesign® System Partner status. This latest milestone demonstrates tangible progress in scaling responsible chemistry across MAS’s global manufacturing footprint.
