Tourist Arrivals in Sri Lanka Surpass 700,000

The number of foreign tourists who have arrived in the country so far in 2026 has exceeded 700,000, reports say.

According to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the total number of tourists who have arrived in the country so far is 708,348.

The statistics further reveal that 151,693 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka during the period from March 1 to March 25, 2026.

Out of the tourists who arrived during the first 25 days of March, 26%, that is 39,424, were from India.

However, compared to the first two months of the year, a decline in European tourist arrivals can be observed in March due to the war-like situation that has arisen in the Middle East. During this period, 9%, or 13,967 tourists, arrived from the United Kingdom, while 13,272 tourists arrived from Russia.
