Charana Jayasuriya Takes the Helm as Head of Fitch Sri Lanka

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Charana Jayasuriya has officially taken on the role of Head of Fitch Ratings Lanka Ltd (Fitch Lanka), with his appointment effective immediately.

Operating from Colombo, Jayasuriya will oversee both the national and international rating operations for Fitch within the region, according to a statement from Fitch Ratings.

With a robust background encompassing 25 years in the capital markets of Sri Lanka and the UK, Jayasuriya’s expertise includes credit ratings, capital markets, asset management, debt markets, regulatory frameworks, and governance. His previous leadership roles include CEO positions at Innovest Investments (Pvt) Ltd, Lanka Rating Agency Limited, and National Asset Management Limited.

He succeeds Maninda Wickramasinghe, who retired after serving 16 years at Fitch as of January 2026.

Fitch Lanka was established in 1999 at the request of the International Finance Corporation and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. (Colombo/Mar30/2026)
