Mahaweli River embankment repairs begin today

Repair work on the embankment of the Mahaweli River, which has collapsed at several points due to Cyclone Ditwah, is scheduled to commence today. 

According to authorities, there is a risk of further damage due to the ongoing seasonal rains. 

Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra and Trincomalee District MP Roshan Akmeemana visited the area for inspection yesterday. 

As such, all necessary repair work is scheduled to commence today.
