The name “Ditwah” translates to “lagoon”

The name was proposed by Yemen for the regional list of tropical cyclone names and specifically refers to the Ditwah Lagoon on Socotra Island, a famous natural habitat known for its striking coastline and rich marine life.

The name “Ditwah” recently gained prominence as the name given to a severe cyclonic storm that impacted Sri Lanka and South India in late November and early December 2025.
