The Colombo Stock Exchange closed lower on Friday, according to data published on its official website.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) declined by 0.64 percent, or 143.48 points, ending at 22,149. The S&P SL20 index also saw a slight decrease of 0.06 percent, or 3.85 points, closing at 6,062. Total market turnover reached 3.45 billion rupees.
The ASPI experienced a consistent decline throughout the week, falling from 22,508.26 recorded last Friday.
Among the leading contributors to the index were Commercial Bank, which gained 1.50 rupees to close at 199.50 rupees; Lion Brewery, which rose by 54.25 rupees to 1,650 rupees; Carson Cumberbatch, up 11.50 rupees at 775 rupees; Tokyo Cement, up 2 rupees at 113 rupees; and Ceylon Grain Elevators, up 7 rupees at 397.25 rupees.
The index was weighed down primarily by declines in Dockyard, with its voting shares dropping 47.25 rupees to 142.50 rupees, and its rights issue falling by 49.98 percent, or 74.85 rupees, to close at 74.90 rupees.
