In a major development for Sri Lanka’s digital transformation, eMudhra, a global leader in digital identity and security solutions, has formed a strategic partnership with LankaSign, the country’s only Certification Service Provider (CSP) compliant with the Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006. LankaSign is operated by LankaPay, Sri Lanka’s national payment network. The partnership was officially announced during the inauguration of the INFOTEL 2025 ICT exhibition at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Exhibition Hall.

The collaboration between LankaSign and eMudhra combines the legal recognition and trust of LankaSign’s digital signing certificates, issued since 2009, with eMudhra’s globally recognized emSigner platform. Since its launch in 2008, emSigner has enabled secure digital document signing in over 68 countries. Through this partnership, Sri Lankan citizens and businesses will gain access to a secure, seamless, and user-friendly digital signing solution that allows documents to be signed at any time and from any location via iOS, Android, or web-based applications.

This initiative supports Sri Lanka’s national agenda to promote the adoption of digital documents, reduce reliance on paper-based processes, and foster a more efficient, transparent, and secure digital economy. The collaboration is designed to advance the government’s long-term digitalization roadmap by providing a secure layer for digital documentation, essential for e-government services, digital finance, and overall digital transformation efforts.

Channa de Silva, Chief Executive Officer of LankaPay, commented on the partnership, stating, “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s journey toward a digitally empowered society. By combining the trusted local acceptance of LankaSign digital signing certificates with eMudhra’s advanced signing platform, emSigner, we aim to make digital signatures more accessible and widely adopted across the country. The solution’s multi-operating system compatibility will offer unparalleled convenience, enabling users to sign documents seamlessly via smart mobile devices and web-based applications. This partnership is expected to accelerate the adoption of digital signatures and provide renewed momentum to the nation’s digital transformation efforts.”

Kaushik Srinivasan, Co-founder of eMudhra, added, “Our partnership with LankaPay reinforces eMudhra’s commitment to enabling trusted digital ecosystems that bring identity, authentication, and signing together in a secure, compliant way. With emSigner now integrated with LankaPay, Sri Lankan citizens and organizations can experience the ease of executing legally valid digital transactions, paving the way for a truly paperless and efficient digital economy.”

With the introduction of the LankaSign emSigner solution, Sri Lanka is poised to experience increased efficiency and enhanced security in digital interactions through the widespread adoption of legally valid digital signatures for government, corporate, and individual users. The solution also guarantees seamless cross-platform accessibility on iOS, Android, and web interfaces.
