Sri Lanka awards Murban crude deal to Singapore-based Vitol Asia

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Sri Lankan Cabinet of Ministers has selected Vitol Asia Pte. Ltd., based in Singapore, to manage a contract for four shipments of Murban crude oil, according to an official government announcement.

Among five bids submitted by registered suppliers of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Vitol Asia was chosen to supply a total of 2,800,000 barrels, with a possible variation of plus or minus 5%, over a four-month period from April 15, 2026, to August 14, 2026.

The selection was made following the recommendation of the higher-level standing procurement committee, as outlined in the Cabinet decisions document released by the government. (Colombo/January 06/2026)
