Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets experienced a 13.1% increase, reaching US$ 6.825 billion in December 2025, up from US$ 6.034 billion in November 2025, as reported by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
The CBSL also indicated that total foreign currency reserves rose to US$ 6.734 billion by the end of December. In contrast, gross official currency reserves stood at US$ 5.944 million at the end of November 2025.
This growth includes proceeds from the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) swap arrangement, amounting to approximately US$ 1.4 billion, which remains subject to certain conditions regarding its usability.
