Financial Chronicle – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is currently visiting Sri Lanka, where he has met with the nation’s Foreign Minister, Vijitha Herath. During his stay, Wang Yi is scheduled to engage in a special discussion with Minister Herath, according to a statement from the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister’s office.

This visit by Wang Yi follows closely on the heels of Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit three weeks ago. During that visit, India pledged US$450 million in assistance to Sri Lanka, which includes a US$100 million grant aimed at aiding the country’s recovery efforts following the Ditwah disaster.
