FitsAir, a Colombo-based airline, has announced its certification by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka as an approved training organization (ATO) for Airbus A320 pilot type training.

According to a statement from the airline, this approval authorizes FitsAir to conduct a range of training programs, including Cadet Pilot and Junior First Officer initial training, A320 aircraft conversion, and re-qualification for both current and non-current pilots, as well as A330/A320 cross crew qualification.

The training will be conducted using Airbus A320 Flight Simulation Training Devices approved by the Civil Aviation Authority.

“By bringing Airbus A320 type training in-house, we enhance training quality, improve flexibility, and build a stronger pipeline of skilled pilots for both FitsAir and the wider aviation industry,” stated Ammar Kassim, Executive Director of FitsAir.

The certification provides FitsAir with greater control, efficiency, and consistency in pilot training while reducing reliance on overseas training facilities. It also supports the long-term growth of aviation expertise in Sri Lanka, according to the airline.

FitsAir is recognized as Sri Lanka’s first privately-owned airline, operating to destinations in South Asia and the Middle East.
