Sri Lanka SEC Launches Criminal Investigation into Blue Ocean Securities

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka has announced the initiation of a criminal investigation into Blue Ocean Securities Ltd, a company reportedly soliciting public funds for investments in the Colombo Stock Exchange without proper authorization.

In a recent Twitter post, the SEC stated, “The SEC has lodged a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding this unlicensed entity.” The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has also filed a separate complaint with the CID. The CID has begun its investigations, and the SEC has supplied all relevant complaints and bank account information linked to this entity to the CID.

The SEC has issued a public alert advising against any dealings with Blue Ocean Securities Ltd or its mobile application, BOMate, for investments in the Colombo Stock Exchange.

Additionally, the SEC has identified individuals named Rohan Dias, who claims to be the Chief Analyst, and Natasha Perera, purportedly his assistant, as unlicensed by the SEC. The regulator has strongly advised the public to refrain from depositing any funds into bank accounts associated with this entity and to exercise extreme caution in investment-related activities.
