SLIIT ICSDB 2025: Pioneering the Fusion of Sustainability and Digital Innovation

The SLIIT Business School recently hosted the 4th International Conference on Sustainable and Digital Business (ICSDB 2025), a significant event that brought together global academics, industry leaders, and policymakers to examine the convergence of sustainability and digital innovation. This hybrid-format conference took place at two prominent venues: the SLIIT Main Auditorium in Malabe and the Waters Edge Hotel in Battaramulla, allowing worldwide participation both in-person and online.

Building on the success of the previous three years, ICSDB 2025 showcased an impressive array of keynote speakers, research presentations, panel discussions, and the distinguished ICSDB Excellence Awards. A notable highlight was the keynote speech delivered by Dr. Hossein Mohammadi of Curtin University, who offered global insights on harnessing digital innovation to promote sustainability.

The two-day event featured a blend of academic and corporate sessions. The first day concentrated on research and knowledge exchange, with academic sessions and paper presentations. The second day focused on industry engagement, featuring panel discussions, networking opportunities, and the prestigious ICSDB Excellence Awards ceremony, which honored organizations making significant strides in sustainable and digital business practices.

The ICSDB Excellence Awards 2025 recognized organizations for their exceptional achievements in sustainability and digital innovation. Evaluated using the ICSDB Index, which assesses Ingenuity, Continuity, Scope, Deployment, and Benefits, the awards spotlighted initiatives contributing to long-term value creation and positive societal impact.

All accepted conference proceedings were indexed in ProQuest and the Sri Lanka Science Index (SLSID), with selected papers slated for publication in the SLIIT Business Review Journal, providing international recognition for the participants’ research. The conference received generous support from sponsors, with Curtin University Colombo, Asha Securities Ltd, Senfin Asset Management (Pvt) Ltd, British Council, Paragon Software Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, CIMA Sri Lanka, International Construction Consortium (Pvt) Ltd, The Lean Six Sigma Company (Pvt) Ltd, Epic Technology Group Asia, Meta Labs (Pvt) Ltd, and People’s Bank being the main sponsors, while Newswire served as the Digital Media Partner.

Reflecting on the success of ICSDB 2025, Prof Suren Peter, Dean of SLIIT’s Business School, remarked, “ICSDB 2025 stands as a testament to SLIIT Business School’s commitment to advancing research that bridges sustainability and digital transformation. By bringing together global academics, industry leaders, and policymakers, the conference has fostered meaningful dialogue, impactful collaboration, and practical insights that contribute to responsible innovation and long-term societal value.”

ICSDB 2025 not only facilitated academic exchange but also created opportunities for entrepreneurs, policymakers, and industry leaders to engage with innovative ideas that shape policies, business models, and cross-border collaborations. The conference reaffirmed SLIIT’s position as a leader in driving research, innovation, and practical solutions at the intersection of sustainability and digital transformation.
