Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya engaged in discussions with Masato Kanda, the President and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in Davos, Switzerland. This meeting occurred on the sidelines of the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) at the WEF Congress Centre in Davos-Klosters.
The high-level discussions focused on Sri Lanka’s ongoing reform agenda and the current economic situation of the country, among other topics.
Additionally, the Prime Minister met with the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, in Davos. During this meeting, both parties explored ways to strengthen cooperation between Sri Lanka and the EU, emphasizing economic recovery, education reform, digital transformation, climate resilience, and sustainable development, as stated by the Office of the Prime Minister.
Dr. Harini Amarasuriya traveled to Switzerland on Monday, December 19, to attend the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. The 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos convened under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” gathering over 3,000 global leaders, including heads of state, government leaders, CEOs of leading multinational corporations, policymakers, and technology innovators.
During her visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to engage in a series of high-level bilateral meetings with key international leaders, heads of global institutions, and other distinguished dignitaries.
