Sri Lanka Achieves 4.74% Increase in Tea Exports for 2025

In 2025, Sri Lanka’s tea exports reached 257.44 million kilograms, marking a 4.74 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to industry data. Export earnings rose slightly to 1.506 billion US dollars, up from 1.434 billion dollars in the prior year. The average export price on a Free on Board (FOB) basis was estimated at 5.85 dollars per kilogram, a slight increase from the previous year’s 5.84 dollars per kilogram.

Iraq emerged as the largest export destination for Sri Lankan tea, followed by Russia and Turkey. Iraq imported 39.3 million kilograms, an increase from 34.26 million kilograms the previous year. Russia purchased 21.59 million kilograms, a decrease from last year’s 24.98 million kilograms, while Turkey imported 21.27 million kilograms, up from 17.73 million kilograms last year.
