The recent conclusion of Gamer.LK’s Play Expo 2025, with Munchee Savory as the Platinum Partner and powered by Coca-Cola, marked a significant milestone for Sri Lankan Esports. LVG ESPORTS was crowned the Best Esports Clan of the event, showcasing consistent and disciplined performances across multiple competitive titles.

Spanning two action-packed days, Play Expo 2025 attracted thousands of fans and players, providing a platform for high-level competition across PC, mobile, console, simulator, and virtual reality games. The event served as a proving ground, where preparation, teamwork, and long-term commitment to competitive excellence were rigorously tested.

The Best Esports Clan award, designed to recognize consistency across multiple games, became the flagship award of the event. LVG ESPORTS clinched the title through strong performances in both team-based and individual competitions, demonstrating the depth of the organization rather than success in a single title. Their achievements underscored the importance of structured training, coordinated teamwork, and consistent performance under pressure across various game titles.

Lilandavaradan Arunkumar, Founder & CEO of LVG ESPORTS, commented on the achievement, stating, “This recognition means a great deal to everyone at LVG ESPORTS. What we achieved at Play Expo 2025 is the result of months of preparation, structured training, and the commitment shown by every player and support member across multiple titles. Competing at this level across so many games is never easy, and being recognized as the Best Esports Clan validates the effort our teams put in every day. We are proud of our players and grateful for platforms like Play Expo that continue to raise the standard of Esports in Sri Lanka.”

Play Expo 2025 featured tournaments across more than 25 Esports titles, with over 2,500 players competing in open competitions, women’s tournaments, and junior categories. This inclusive approach allowed established organizations to compete alongside emerging talent from across the island, reinforcing Play Expo’s role in strengthening Sri Lanka’s Esports pipeline.

In team-based championships, Kothu Mechanics triumphed in League of Legends, while ZEALOT ESPORTS of LVG ESPORTS won in Honor of Kings. TEAM YKZ of YAKUZA ESPORTS led Rainbow Six Siege X, SL RIDERZ GHOST of Maximum e-Sports claimed the Free Fire Squad championship, EQZ ESPORTS emerged victorious in the PUBG MOBILE Squad, Death Sentence from IMMORTAL ESPORTS topped DOTA 2, Team Catalyst from Xiphos Esports led Mobile Legends, Xiphos Esports secured the Valorant championship, and Team misR claimed victory in Call of Duty 4.

In solo competitions, Phoenix GaminG’s Ishith Chethiya Fernando won the Clash Royale championship, LVG ESPORTS’ Dinusha Cooray triumphed in Tekken 8, and IMMORTAL ESPORTS’ Kalindu Bandara secured the eFootball Mobile Championship. Toxic Thunder’s Kevan Samarajiwa clinched the F1 25 title, Phoenix GaminG’s Dishan Nithiananthan claimed victory in FC 26, and Xiphos Esports’ Rashad Ameer won the Mortal Kombat 1 championship.

The women’s Esports competitions were a major highlight, with Catalyst eSports FE securing the Women’s Mobile Legends championship, Dilini Prasanthika winning the Women’s PUBG MOBILE Solo, Soul Of Devils’ Tharushi Perera leading the Women’s Free Fire Solo, and LVG ESPORTS’ Rooman Doole claiming the Women’s Mortal Kombat 1 title, reinforcing the clan’s strong presence across categories.

Reflecting on the event, Raveen Wijayatilake, CEO of Gamer.LK, stated, “What we saw at Play Expo this year was a clear sign of how far Esports in Sri Lanka has come. The level of competition, the diversity of players, and the passion across all categories show that this ecosystem is growing in the right direction. Play Expo continues to be a place where talent is tested, confidence is built, and future national-level athletes begin their journey.”

Recognized by the Sri Lanka Esports Association (SLESA) as a ranked tournament, Play Expo once again served as an official platform within the national Esports ecosystem. Performances at the event contributed to national rankings, giving players and teams the opportunity to progress within Sri Lanka’s structured Esports pathway and move closer toward future national representation.

Munchee Savory was the Platinum Partner of the event, which was powered by Coca-Cola. They were joined by Mentos as the Freshness Partner, Newdale as the Dairy Partner, Lenovo as the Technology Partner, Wonder as the Frozen Treats Partner, Scope Cinemas as the Cinema Partner, and InGame Esports as the Esports Platform Partner.

As Play Expo 2025 concluded, it reaffirmed its role as Sri Lanka’s largest Esports event and a platform where elite teams are tested, champions are crowned, and the future of competitive gaming in the country continues to take shape.
