HUTCH Sri Lanka is transforming the nation’s retail landscape with the introduction of its Signature outlets, which embody a core focus on sustainability in modern retailing and servicing.
This groundbreaking initiative marks the first time in Sri Lanka that sustainability has been comprehensively integrated into retail spaces, moving beyond symbolic gestures to achieve measurable environmental and social impacts.
HUTCH has launched its initial two outlets under the flagship themes, Signature+ in Colombo Fort, catering to the largest business community in Sri Lanka, and a Signature outlet in the vibrant town of Negombo, with more locations planned for the future.
As Sri Lanka outlines its goals for environmental sustainability, HUTCH is turning ambition into action by aligning with its Global Fortune 500 parent, CK Hutchison Holding’s commitment to responsible growth, which is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). Built on the foundation of environmental sustainability, the newly opened outlets utilize sustainable materials, are powered by renewable wind and solar energy, and introduce a circular economy to their production cycle. These outlets also encourage public participation in the circular economy by featuring e-waste collection points for the responsible disposal of obsolete communication devices. More than just customer service points, these spaces function as educational centers where visitors can experience sustainability in action through curated illustrations and facts.
HUTCH’s approach to its outlet expansion through the Signature outlets underscores its dedication to long-term value creation, environmental stewardship, and serves as a real-life example setting a standard for sustainable retail in Sri Lanka.
Commenting on the launch, Saumitra Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of HUTCH, stated, “Aligning with the CK Hutchison Group’s sustainability journey, HUTCH is redefining retail infrastructure where innovation meets social responsibility. Sustainability for us is an investment to build long-term value for Sri Lanka, for generations now and to come. This initiative delivers a unique customer experience while setting a new benchmark in taking services directly to customers as a responsible telecom operator. Eventually, demonstrating how HUTCH continues to think ahead, shaping the future of connectivity.”
