Vidullanka Wins Major Battery Storage Project in Sri Lanka’s Vavunathivu

Sri Lankan energy company Vidullanka PLC has announced that it has been awarded a project to develop a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Vavunathivu. This initiative will be undertaken in collaboration with WindForce PLC.

The project will follow the Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) model and will have an operational contract period of fifteen years. According to a filing with the stock exchange, the facility is set to have a total installed capacity of 10MW/40MWh.

Project financing will adhere to an 80:20 Debt-to-Equity structure, amounting to a total of 1.73 billion rupees. Vidullanka will hold a 50 percent stake in the project.
