Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake officially took office as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority on February 17, 2026. This marks his third tenure as Chairman, bringing with him a wealth of expertise in maritime operations, logistics, and corporate management.
Dr. Dissanayake has an extensive background in both the public and private sectors, having held leadership roles at Aitken Spence PLC and its subsidiaries, as well as national port management and advisory positions. His international recognition includes being the first non-British President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (UK) and participating in United Nations maritime advisory initiatives.
During his current term, Dr. Dissanayake is expected to prioritize the improvement of port operations, boost logistics efficiency, and enhance Sri Lanka’s standing as a regional maritime hub.
