David Pieris Renewable Energy (Private) Limited (DPRE), the renewable energy division of the David Pieris Group known for marketing David Pieris Solar, has formed a strategic partnership with Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB). This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aims to promote solar energy solutions to customers in both the domestic and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sectors who are seeking HNB loan facilities.

The MOU signing ceremony took place at the HNB Head Office, attended by senior representatives from both organizations. Notable attendees included Mr. Kanchana Karunagama, Senior Vice President – Head of Retail Banking; Mr. Sanjay Wijemanna, Senior Executive Vice President – Chief Operating Officer; and Mr. Asitha Fernando, Manager – Personal Financial Services from HNB. This collaboration provides customers with access to high-quality and reliable solar power solutions from DPRE, complemented by convenient and reliable financing options from HNB. For domestic solar projects, loan amounts will range from LKR 500,000 to LKR 7,000,000. Financing for C&I projects will be customized based on the specific requirements and scope of each project.

Loans will be available for terms of up to seven years, featuring competitive low interest rates that are adapted to the selected repayment period. This flexible financing structure is designed to facilitate a seamless, affordable, and transparent transition to renewable energy for households, businesses, and industrial clients across Sri Lanka.

By leveraging the David Pieris Group’s trusted 40-year legacy in conjunction with DPRE’s technical expertise and industry experience, as well as HNB’s extensive banking network and financial capabilities, the initiative is anticipated to significantly enhance the adoption of solar energy across the nation.

This partnership is in strong alignment with Sri Lanka’s national energy goals, which include generating 70% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and achieving carbon net-zero by 2050. It underscores both organizations’ commitment to sustainable development and a greener future.
