The Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka saw a decline on Friday, according to data available on its website. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) decreased by 0.30 percent, which equates to a drop of 72.13 points, closing at 23,797.94. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 index fell by 0.22 percent, or 15.10 points, ending the day at 6,728.09.
The market turnover for the day was recorded at 3.89 billion rupees, with significant contributions from the banking sector, amounting to 912 million rupees, and the insurance sector, contributing 835 million rupees.
Among the key negative contributors to the ASPI were Commercial Bank, which declined by 2.50 rupees to close at 230.50 rupees, and C T Holdings, which fell by 17.50 rupees to settle at 613.75 rupees. Melstacorp experienced a decrease of 1.75 rupees, closing at 181.25 rupees, while Bukit Darah dropped by 22.25 rupees, finishing at 927.50 rupees. John Keells Holdings also saw a minor decline, with a decrease of 10 cents, closing at 22.70 rupees.
