Sri Lanka’s National Inflation Plummets to 2.4% in January 2026

According to the latest data from the Department of Census and Statistics, the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) indicates a decrease in the overall rate of inflation to 2.4% in January 2026, down from 2.9% in December 2025.

In the same period, food inflation saw a decline, dropping to 3.4% in January 2026 from 4.4% in December 2025. Meanwhile, the Year-on-Year inflation rate for the non-food group held steady at 1.6% in January 2026.
