The Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT) celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of its students during the Academic Excellence 2026 Felicitation Ceremony, which took place on July 21 at the AAT Auditorium. This event specifically recognized those who excelled in the Commerce Stream of the GCE Advanced Level 2025 examination, highlighting the achievements of students who ranked at the top within their districts and among the first 100 nationwide. This recognition emphasizes AAT’s pivotal role in cultivating academically proficient and industry-ready professionals for Sri Lanka’s accounting and finance sectors.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri, who served as the Chief Guest. An esteemed academic and expert in leadership, Prof. Dharmasiri praised the students for their hard work and urged them to actively participate in the nation’s development efforts. The gathering also included members of the AAT Governing Council, such as Dr. Chamara Bandara (President), Theja de Silva (Secretary), Indraka Liyanage (Immediate Past President), and Jagath Perera (Council Member), alongside AAT staff, supportive parents, and well-wishers, showcasing the organization’s commitment to fostering academic excellence.
A significant factor contributing to these impressive results is the strategic alignment between the AAT curriculum and the GCE A/L Commerce syllabus, with an estimated 80% to 85% overlap in content. This close connection allows students to enhance their understanding of subjects, improve their analytical abilities, and gain confidence in tackling competitive exams. The integrated educational approach not only boosts A/L performance but also equips students with practical skills and professional competencies, providing them with a competitive edge in higher education and future career opportunities.
AAT students achieved exceptional results on a national level, claiming District First Ranks in nine districts: Kurunegala, Hambantota, Matale, Badulla, Jaffna, Nuwara Eliya, Puttalam, Vavuniya, and Ampara. This further reinforces AAT’s strong academic presence and its capability to elevate students from various regions across the country.
The Academic Excellence 2026 event underscores AAT’s ongoing dedication to acknowledging and fostering academic success while motivating students to strive for excellence in their educational journeys and future careers. As a leading provider of professional accounting education in Sri Lanka, AAT is committed to empowering the youth with the necessary knowledge, skills, and opportunities to become future-ready professionals and responsible leaders who can make significant contributions to the nation’s economic advancement.
