Abu Dhabi and Colombo Stock Exchanges Forge Partnership to Enhance Capital Market Integration

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in the capital markets between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates. This agreement seeks to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, improve cooperation in trading technologies and post-trading infrastructure, and identify opportunities for expanding cross-market access.

The discussions regarding this MoU were initiated by H.E. Prof. Arusha Cooray, the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, during the ‘Invest Sri Lanka’ Investor Forum held in the UAE earlier this year.

Through this agreement, both organizations will share relevant market insights and collaborate on various aspects, including electronic trading systems, exchange operations, technical infrastructure, market surveillance, and clearing and post-trading functions. Additionally, ADX and CSE intend to host joint conferences, seminars, and educational initiatives while also sharing expertise on new financial products such as Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and derivatives.

Furthermore, the MoU will allow CSE to consider joining the Tabadul Hub, which is Abu Dhabi’s inaugural digital exchange network. This platform is designed to enhance market access and trading connections among participating exchanges throughout the Middle East and beyond. Such an initiative would not only provide international investors with improved access to the Sri Lankan capital market but also open up new avenues for Sri Lankan investors to engage with regional and global markets.
