The Association of Container Transporters (ACT), the leading organization representing Sri Lanka’s container transport sector, successfully held its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Fellowship on June 26, 2026, at the Lotus Tower in Colombo. This event underscored the organization’s dedication to enhancing the logistics and supply chain industry in the country through increased collaboration among industry players and proactive dialogue with policymakers.
The meeting featured the Hon. Anura Karunatilleka, Minister of Ports, Aviation and Energy, as the Chief Guest, with the Hon. Ruwan Kodituwakku, Deputy Minister, serving as the Guest of Honour. The gathering was attended by senior government officials, prominent industry figures, corporate representatives, and stakeholders from the ports, shipping, logistics, and supply chain sectors.
As the first association for container transport operators in Sri Lanka, ACT has been instrumental in facilitating the nation’s import and export activities for over 40 years. The organization’s membership includes major transport companies that are crucial to the national logistics framework, offering vital container transportation services that ensure the efficient movement and timely clearance of goods, thereby supporting seamless port and vessel operations.
During the AGM, members assessed the association’s achievements over the past year and identified key industry priorities focused on enhancing operational efficiency, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and tackling challenges faced by the container transport sector. The discussions underscored the necessity of a robust and efficient transport network to bolster Sri Lanka’s position as a competitive maritime and logistics hub in the region.
ACT continues to collaborate closely with the government, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, and other industry stakeholders to address operational issues related to ports, advocate for practical policy solutions, and promote initiatives aimed at elevating service standards and productivity throughout the logistics value chain. Looking ahead, the Association is committed to protecting its members’ interests while offering enhanced benefits, professional development avenues, and value-added services. Through ongoing partnerships with both public and private sectors, ACT seeks to significantly contribute to the sustainable growth of Sri Lanka’s trade, transport, and logistics sectors, thereby reinforcing the industry’s role as a vital component of the national economy.
