The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), in collaboration with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Bangladesh, successfully held the inaugural Media Networking Session and Roadshow (B2B) & Networking Evening in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on April 5th and 6th, 2026.
The Media Networking Session attracted participation from 35 prominent media representatives, facilitating the development of robust media relationships and enhancing awareness of Sri Lanka as a travel destination. The attendees showed great interest and actively engaged in a question-and-answer segment during the press conference organized by SLTPB, demonstrating their eagerness to learn more about the island.
During the Roadshow (B2B) & Networking Evening, 147 travel agents from Bangladesh interacted with 19 travel and tourism companies from Sri Lanka. This productive exchange created opportunities for future partnerships and the potential for increased visitor numbers. The presence of SriLankan Airlines and FitsAir added significant value, further promoting connectivity and collaborative prospects between the two nations.
The events were honored by the attendance of several distinguished guests, including:
- His Excellency Mr. Dharmapala Weerakkody, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh
- Mr. Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau
- Ms. Nuzhat Yasmin, CEO of the Bangladesh Tourism Board
- Mr. Mohammad Rafuzzaman, President of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB)
- Mr. Syed Ghulam Mohammed, President of the Bangladesh Outbound Tour Operators Association (BOTOA)
Their participation highlighted the significance of bolstering tourism connections between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
