Binance has revealed a new five-year strategic agreement aimed at enhancing the global presence of USDC, following a substantial equity investment of $100 million in Circle Internet Group, Inc. (NYSE: CRCL). This partnership will see the promotion of USDC across Binance’s extensive international platform.
As part of the broadened collaboration, Binance is set to actively endorse USDC, particularly in emerging markets, while Circle will supply the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the storage and utilization of USDC.
In conjunction with this partnership, Binance acquired $100 million in Circle Class A common stock through a private placement, purchasing shares at a price that represents a five percent discount to the market value of CRCL prior to the transaction’s closure.
Richard Teng, co-CEO of Binance, remarked, “Circle has established itself as a leading and trustworthy issuer in the global financial landscape, particularly with USDC, Arc, and the innovative infrastructure supporting cross-border value transfers. Our investment and long-term commitment underscore our confidence in this partnership.” He further emphasized the goal of fostering a more inclusive, transparent, and compliant digital economy, asserting that access to a stable and reliable digital dollar should not be a luxury but a right available to everyone with a mobile device.
Jeremy Allaire, Co-founder, Chairman, and CEO of Circle, stated, “Binance has developed one of the largest and most innovative platforms for digital currency, creating the internet’s foremost financial super app and establishing itself as the leading wallet for dollar stablecoins. We foresee significant opportunities to utilize USDC to enhance dollar accessibility, promote savings and investment through cutting-edge digital asset offerings, and connect with individuals and businesses across emerging markets globally.”
