Binance has announced the introduction of commodity options for Gold and Silver on its Recognized Investment Exchange, Nest Exchange Limited, which operates under the regulatory framework of the Abu Dhabi Global Market. This initiative enhances Binance’s offerings in traditional finance (TradFi) by providing users with compliant, crypto-based methods to hedge, diversify, and express their macroeconomic perspectives on essential traditional assets.
The new commodity options are designed to meet the strong demand for Binance’s previously launched commodity perpetuals, further enriching the platform’s suite of regulated derivatives. Users can now trade both commodity perpetuals and options using the same USDT balance and Binance account.
Shunyet Jan, the Head of Exchange and Trading at Binance, remarked, “The interest in our commodity perpetuals has been robust since their debut earlier this year, and the addition of commodity options enhances this trend. With gold reaching unprecedented prices and investors looking for inflation protection beyond traditional stocks, our commodity options provide users with compliant, crypto-based avenues for diversification without needing to leave the platform.”
The new product features European-style, USDT-settled options on physical gold and silver, opening up fresh avenues for users to manage risk and broaden their investment portfolios. This offering builds on the existing popularity of gold and silver perpetual futures, transitioning from simple commodity exposure to more complex options strategies. The product adheres to KYC and KYB regulations, market surveillance, sanctions checks, and other compliance measures, ensuring a secure trading environment. Retail users are permitted to purchase only long options, which limits their potential losses to the premium paid and removes the liquidation risks associated with short positions. In contrast, eligible institutional clients and liquidity providers can write options to collect upfront premiums and execute more advanced portfolio strategies. Trading hours are set from Sunday at 6:00 PM ET to Friday at 5:00 PM ET, with a daily maintenance period from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM ET.
Binance is committed to maintaining strong user protection protocols, educational resources, and transparent risk disclosures, in line with its operations regulated by the ADGM. As the lines between cryptocurrency and traditional finance continue to blur, the launch of Binance’s commodity options highlights the escalating demand for compliant, crypto-native access to conventional market products.
