Government prepares for Parliament’s return amid pressure over economy and public services
Britain’s political attention is increasingly turning towards Westminster as the Government prepares for Parliament’s return following the summer recess, with economic management, public services and immigration expected to dominate the agenda.
Ministers face continuing pressure to demonstrate that inflation, public finances and economic growth remain on a sustainable path while responding to persistent concerns over NHS waiting lists, housing and the cost of living.
Business groups are also watching closely.
The Government has placed considerable emphasis on attracting investment, encouraging productivity and maintaining Britain’s competitiveness following several years of economic adjustment.
