The British Council Sri Lanka recently organized the IELTS Partner Meet 2026 to acknowledge the commitment of its partners over the past year. IELTS, recognized as the foremost English language assessment globally, is accepted by more than 12,500 institutions around the world, serving as a critical pathway for students pursuing higher education, professional development, career advancement, and migration opportunities.
Thanks to the steadfast support from its partners, the British Council has been instrumental in assisting students, parents, and professionals in planning their studies and travels abroad, thereby enhancing the likelihood of successful outcomes. These partners play a vital role not only in facilitating IELTS registrations through the British Council but also in offering essential preparatory resources that enable candidates to attain the scores required for their aspirations. This partnership has proven to be essential for the British Council.
The British Council recognizes the need for increased collaboration with its partners, especially following the transition of IELTS to a fully computer-based testing format last year. This change provides candidates with enhanced convenience and flexibility during their testing experience, and the British Council has been supportive of its delivery partners throughout this adaptation process.
Duncan Wilson, the Acting Director of Exams at British Council Sri Lanka, highlighted the significance of maintaining high standards within partnerships, stating, “In such a competitive education market, our goal should always be to strengthen our offerings and remain ahead by prioritizing quality.”
With nine state-of-the-art test centers located throughout the country, the British Council offers a convenient and accessible pathway for candidates aiming for success in the IELTS examination. The test, designed, developed, and continually refined by Cambridge University, benefits from the expertise of UK specialists, with the British Council managing its global distribution.
The forum also included a panel discussion where speakers stressed the importance for candidates to give themselves sufficient time before scheduling a test date. This preparation period is crucial for enhancing their overall English fluency and accuracy, as well as for thorough practice in advance of the test.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards to outstanding partners across four categories. The Bronze Tier Award was awarded to Headway School of Languages (Pvt) Ltd, DMI Computer Education, Australian College of Business & Technology, and British Win Academy (Pvt) Ltd, with the Silver Tier going to Nations Victory Campus.
Both existing partner British Win Academy and new partner Victoria Campus were recognized for excellence in growth. Additionally, a special accolade, the Rising Star Woman Entrepreneur award, was bestowed upon Dinukshi Hettige, Head of Academics and Lead Consultant at Colombo International Study Consultancy.
The top three performing institutions in the country were recognized, with DMI Computer Education taking the 2nd runner-up position, Headway School of Languages as the 1st runner-up, and Nations Victory Campus earning the title of overall winner.
The British Council’s ongoing acknowledgment of its partners highlights the significance of maintaining momentum in growth, embracing digital transformation, and broadening access to ensure the success of students and professionals pursuing opportunities abroad.
