BYD, recognized as the leading brand in the emerging New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sector both in Sri Lanka and globally, has partnered with its authorized distributor, John Keells CG Auto, to inaugurate its 11th showroom in the country. This new facility marks a significant expansion of their operations within the Western Province.
The showroom opened its doors on September 11 and is situated at No 254, Chilaw Road, Negombo. This new addition enhances BYD’s existing retail and service network, which already includes locations in Colombo, Galle, Kurunegala, Kandy, Ampara, and Rathnapura. The latest establishment not only bolsters BYD’s presence along the coastal regions of the Western Province but also enhances accessibility to its electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle offerings for customers in Negombo and nearby areas.
Residents in and around Negombo can look forward to the same dependable service and vehicle access that has become synonymous with the BYD brand. Initially, the showroom will function solely for display purposes, but there are plans to evolve it into a comprehensive 3S facility, which will provide Sales, Service, and Spare Parts all in one location. The showroom will showcase a variety of BYD models, including the BYD SEALION 5, SEALION 6, SEALION 8, ATTO 1, ATTO 2, SHARK 6, and DOLPHIN.
Charith Panditharatne, CEO of JKCG Auto, expressed that the opening of the 11th showroom is a noteworthy achievement for BYD in Sri Lanka. He noted that within a short timeframe, the market has shifted from merely raising awareness of new energy vehicles to embracing them as a common choice among Sri Lankan consumers. He emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its network and support systems, ensuring customers feel confident in transitioning to new energy mobility across the nation.
In alignment with its goal of fostering a robust NEV ecosystem, Keells has installed 43 charging stations throughout the country. Moreover, BYD’s recently established strategic alliance with GreenEV will facilitate access to an additional 73 chargers, increasing the total number of public charging stations to 116 across all nine provinces in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, every customer purchasing a BYD or Denza vehicle will receive a home charger, providing them with enhanced convenience and flexibility for charging their vehicles.
With the launch of its 11th showroom in Negombo, BYD is further solidifying its retail and service footprint across Sri Lanka. The company now operates showrooms and service centers in several provinces, including Western, Southern, Central, North Western, Eastern, and Sabaragamuwa, ensuring that BYD’s vehicles and customer support are readily accessible to clients throughout the island.
