FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka’s activewear brand, CARNAGE, has unveiled its new initiative aimed at supporting the development of athletes who have the potential to represent the country on the international stage. The Carnage Athlete Foundation is dedicated to discovering, nurturing, and promoting exceptional sporting talent throughout Sri Lanka.
Joel Tillekeratne, the Founder and CEO of CARNAGE, emphasized the foundation’s long-term vision, stating, “We are establishing sustainable systems that transform raw talent in Sri Lanka into world-class athletes capable of competing globally.” He further remarked, “Our focus is not on fleeting moments of inspiration or isolated success stories. What truly matters is the journey over time—the early mornings, the challenges faced, and the discipline exercised when no one else is watching.”
The foundation’s objective is to provide avenues for athletes to develop and thrive, both domestically and internationally. To mark its launch, the Carnage Athlete Foundation has highlighted three athletes whose experiences embody the initiative’s core values and goals.
Sujan Perera, the Captain of the Sri Lanka National Football Team, exemplifies technical skill, a competitive spirit, and the capacity to motivate those around him. His leadership is characterized by excellence, accountability, and an unwavering desire to succeed.
Khalid Osman, a triathlete and Ironman 70.3 competitor, serves as a Resilience Ambassador after losing his eyesight at the age of 26. He has remarkably rebuilt his life through sheer determination and perseverance, becoming the first visually impaired athlete from Sri Lanka to participate in five Ironman 70.3 events. His participation spans various competitions and marathons in cities such as Paris, Singapore, Japan, Jordan, and Sri Lanka. “I don’t compete despite my challenges. I compete because of them,” Khalid expressed.
Darren Sonal Tranchell, a junior rower with high performance credentials, participates in several age categories and open events both locally and internationally. He has earned recognition for his discipline, commitment to ongoing improvement, and consistent competitive performance.
Through its athlete-centric framework, the Carnage Athlete Foundation aims to create significant opportunities for talented sportsmen and women, while also fostering the growth of Sri Lanka’s sporting landscape. (Colombo/Jun20/2026)
