CBL Investments Limited, along with its affiliated companies known as CBL Group, has announced the appointment of Ms. Sheamalee (Shea) Wickramasingha as Chairman of the Group, effective July 6, 2026. Ms. Wickramasingha, who will maintain her role as Group Managing Director, takes over this position following the passing of Mr. Ramya Sanath Amaraweera Wickramasingha, who held the chairmanship since 2015.
This leadership transition is a continuation of the legacy established by CBL’s founder, the late President Emeritus Mineka Wickramasingha, who started the company in 1968. Under his guidance, CBL has developed into one of the most esteemed food manufacturing entities in Sri Lanka, catering to millions of customers both locally and internationally. Ms. Wickramasingha is the eldest daughter of Mineka Wickramasingha.
Professionally trained as a food technologist, Ms. Wickramasingha joined Ceylon Biscuits Limited in 1991 and has since held various leadership positions within the organization over the past thirty years. She became a member of the Board of Directors in 1996 and has served as Group Managing Director for over ten years. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in directing the Group’s strategic vision, enhancing domestic operations, facilitating international expansion, promoting innovation, and achieving sustainable growth while mentoring future leaders and upholding the core values and culture that define CBL Group.
Ms. Wickramasingha holds a Master of Science in Food Chemistry from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Industry from Kansas State University in the United States.
Currently, CBL Group operates in a variety of sectors including confectionery, biscuits, chocolates, cakes, cereals, and products based on soya, coconut, and fruit. The Group boasts well-known household brands such as Munchee, Ritzbury, Revello, Tiara, Lanka Soy, Samaposha, Sera, and Nutriline. CBL’s products are distributed in over 70 countries, with manufacturing facilities located in Sri Lanka, Ghana, and Indonesia. Additionally, the Group holds the license for operating SPAR supermarkets in Sri Lanka. In addition to her corporate roles, Ms. Wickramasingha is actively involved in influencing Sri Lanka’s business and food industries. She serves on the Main Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the Advisory Committee on Processed Food and Beverages of the Export Development Board, and the UNICEF Business Council in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, she is the President of the Sri Lanka–Indonesia Business Council and chairs Modern Pack Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., while also serving on the Boards of JF&I Packaging (Pvt) Ltd., Food Revolution (Pvt) Ltd., and SPAR Sri Lanka.
