The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has announced a significant financial loss of Rs. 29.15 billion for the quarter ending December 31, 2025, as detailed in its recent financial statements. This represents a stark contrast to the Rs. 603 million profit reported during the same quarter in 2024, reflecting a dramatic 4,929% decline in year-on-year profitability.

For the entire year of 2025, the CEB’s total loss amounts to Rs. 38.73 billion. This is in sharp contrast to the total profit of Rs. 141.60 billion recorded for the 2024 financial year.
