Colombo Bourse Jumps Over 3% Amid Broad-Based Rally

Sri Lanka’s stock market recorded a notable upswing on Tuesday (24), with both main indices posting strong gains, reflecting improved investor sentiment.

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose by 706.26 points during the session, while the S&P SL20 Index gained 222.41 points. This marks an increase of 3.47% and 3.91%, respectively, compared to the previous trading day.

At the close of trading, the ASPI stood at 21,071.23 points, while the S&P SL20 Index settled at 5,909.23 points.

Market data showed that share prices of 228 companies advanced during the day, while only 11 companies recorded declines, indicating broad-based positive momentum.

Turnover for the day amounted to Rs. 4.21 billion. Domestic buying was recorded at Rs. 4.16 billion, while domestic selling stood at Rs. 3.55 billion. Meanwhile, foreign purchases totaled Rs. 47 million, compared to foreign sales of Rs. 661 million.
