Colombo Serendib Round Table 2 (CSRT2), a distinguished and actively engaged chapter of Round Table Sri Lanka (RTSL), is excited to announce the celebration of its 30th anniversary. Throughout these three decades, CSRT2 has consistently upheld its primary mission of promoting camaraderie, empowering communities, and spearheading extensive charitable projects, truly reflecting the global Round Table philosophy of “Adopt, Adapt, Improve.”
CSRT2 has led numerous impactful community initiatives that have significantly influenced society. One of the most notable contributions occurred in the wake of the Boxing Day tsunami, when CSRT2 collaborated with Round Table Sri Lanka to raise over USD 2 million from chapters across the globe. These funds were carefully allocated to reconstruct damaged schools, restore educational facilities, and provide hope and stability to thousands of children during a particularly challenging time for the nation.
Another significant milestone in CSRT2’s charitable efforts is the “From the Heart” project, an initiative specifically aimed at facilitating life-saving surgeries for children with pediatric heart conditions. This program has enabled the successful completion of over 25 complex heart surgeries at no cost to the families involved. The initiative was made possible through the dedicated medical expertise of Dr. M. M. Lahie, in collaboration with the international charity Gift of Life and Asiri Surgical Hospital Pvt Ltd.
As CSRT2 commemorates its 30 years of service, this remarkable milestone serves not only as a recognition of past successes but also as a reaffirmation of its commitment to future goals. The organization plans to continue its focus on sustainable development, educational empowerment, and uniting young men who are eager to make a lasting, positive difference throughout Sri Lanka.
Looking forward, CSRT2 is actively seeking innovative ways to foster meaningful and sustainable impacts within communities. This year, the organization has launched a project aimed at supporting differently-abled students with their university education and living costs.
Additionally, CSRT2 is in the process of developing a mentorship program for teenagers in orphanages who are approaching the age of 18, with the intention of assisting them in preparing for life after the orphanage by providing guidance on their interests, careers, and future opportunities. This initiative is currently in the planning phase.
Fundraising will continue to play a crucial role in CSRT2’s initiatives, as the organization is gearing up for its third Halloween fundraising event.
