FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Thursday, a substantial transaction involving the sale of shares by Commercial Credit and Finance was executed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, amounting to 9 billion rupees. This transaction was orchestrated by Asia Securities and involved a consortium of investors.
The shares sold represent 28 percent of the holdings from Group Lease Holdings, a Singapore-based firm currently undergoing liquidation. This transaction marks a significant milestone as it is the largest book-built trade recorded in the history of the Colombo Stock Exchange and the most considerable single trade of the year 2026.
At the close of trading on August 6, the stock exchange registered a turnover of 12.24 billion rupees, marking the highest turnover for the year thus far. The 9 billion rupee transaction played a vital role in enhancing the stock market’s performance, which has recently faced challenges due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The shares of Commercial Credit and Finance saw an increase of 1.65 percent, closing at Rs.107.50.
