David Pieris Group expands global footprint with investment in Dubai-based Navire Logistics

The David Pieris Group has strengthened its international presence by acquiring a 50% ownership stake in Navire Logistics Services L.L.C (www.navirelogistics.com), a well-established logistics company operating in Dubai and Oman. This strategic acquisition marks a significant milestone in the Group’s ongoing efforts to expand beyond Sri Lanka and establish a foothold in global markets.

Within Sri Lanka, the Group’s logistics arm, D P Logistics (Private) Limited (DPL), has built a reputation as a comprehensive logistics solutions provider, offering services that include warehousing, transportation, freight forwarding, project logistics, inland distribution, and custom house brokering. DPL ranks among the top ten logistics companies in the country for warehousing and 3PL operations, and boasts one of the largest container fleets in Sri Lanka. Despite operating in a highly fragmented freight forwarding market, DPL continues to grow its market share and is recognized as one of the few local firms with expertise across the full spectrum of logistics disciplines.

In 2022, the David Pieris Group further expanded its logistics and shipping capabilities by acquiring Pulsar Shipping Agencies (Pvt.) Limited, the shipping arm of Expolanka Holdings PLC. This acquisition positioned the Group to offer ship agency, husbandry services, and marine logistics through its Logistics & Shipping Cluster.

Building on its robust domestic foundation, DPL has now extended its reach internationally through its partnership with Navire Logistics Services L.L.C. The integration of DPL’s expertise in custom house brokering, freight forwarding, cargo consolidation, warehousing, and transport solutions is set to enhance Navire Logistics’ operations, improving service quality and efficiency across the Middle East and South Asia.

The investment also includes operations in Oman through a fully owned subsidiary, with plans underway to expand further into Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and India. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening the Group’s regional logistics network.

Commenting on the expansion, Mr. Kalum Katipearachchi, Managing Director & CEO of D P Logistics (Private) Limited, stated, “With more than 60 dedicated employees in the Middle-Eastern region, we are delivering operational excellence across borders, offering practical, seamless solutions to the complex supply chain needs of our diverse customers. Our team’s professionalism, passion, and commitment to customer satisfaction continue to drive our success as we integrate Sri Lankan logistics expertise with the world.”

He added, “Integrity and precision are at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s handling local logistics or global freight forwarding, our teams ensure each operation is managed with meticulous attention to detail and unwavering reliability.”

Through this international expansion, the David Pieris Logistics & Shipping Cluster is poised to become a global logistics and shipping services provider, capable of meeting diverse customer needs both locally and internationally.

With over four decades of business excellence, the David Pieris Group is recognized as one of Sri Lanka’s largest, most diversified, and financially stable conglomerates. The Group encompasses 35 companies across sectors including automotive, financial services, logistics, shipping and marine services, racing and leisure, ICT, real estate, and solar energy. This latest venture underscores the Group’s commitment to bringing Sri Lankan expertise to the global stage, reinforcing its leadership in innovation, integrity, and sustainable growth.
