Dialog Axiata PLC, the leading connectivity provider in Sri Lanka, has introduced Dialog Pay, a comprehensive platform integrated within the MyDialog App. This innovative service combines connectivity, payment solutions, and financial services, representing a key step in Dialog’s mission to enhance the lives and businesses of Sri Lankans through technology. In alignment with the Government of Sri Lanka’s newly initiated Lanka QR Payment Promotion Programme, Dialog Pay is designed to foster a shared goal of increasing the adoption of digital payments and contributing to a more inclusive digital economy.
Dialog Pay is built upon one of the largest digitally-enabled merchant networks in Sri Lanka, facilitating secure Lanka QR payments at over 100,000 retail locations, including supermarkets, restaurants, clothing stores, electronics retailers, healthcare providers, and numerous local businesses. Customers can now enjoy the convenience of digital payments for everyday purchases, while also helping merchants engage in the expanding digital economy of the country.
As part of this initiative, Dialog has rebranded its previous digital payment service, Genie, to Dialog Pay, reflecting the transformation of its platform into a more extensive digital financial ecosystem. Users can easily access Dialog Pay through the Dialog Pay App or the MyDialog App, activating the service using their eZ Cash account or by linking their preferred bank account. This allows them to conduct Lanka QR payments, transfer money, manage their digital wallet, and open savings and fixed deposit accounts, as well as apply for loans offered by Dialog Finance, all within a single application.
To promote everyday usage, customers making qualifying Lanka QR payments via Dialog Pay will receive complimentary data rewards, adding value while encouraging initial and continued use of digital payment methods.
Supun Weerasinghe, Group Chief Executive of Dialog Axiata PLC, remarked on the launch, stating, “At Dialog, we believe our responsibility goes beyond mere connectivity; we aim to enrich and empower the lives and businesses of Sri Lankans through technology. Dialog Pay exemplifies this commitment by simplifying digital payments and financial services, making them more accessible and rewarding for all Sri Lankans while promoting participation in the evolving digital economy. We appreciate the efforts of the Government of Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Digital Economy, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and LankaPay for their leadership in advancing the digital transformation and payment ecosystem in the country. We are grateful to our partners for their collaboration on this national initiative and look forward to working with all stakeholders to boost the adoption of digital payments nationwide.”
Dialog Pay underscores Dialog’s ongoing dedication to developing technology-based solutions that empower and enrich the lives of Sri Lankans. By merging a substantial merchant acceptance network with digital financial services and rewarding customer experiences, Dialog Pay is enhancing the accessibility, convenience, and benefits of everyday digital payments, facilitating the nation’s shift toward a more inclusive and digitally empowered economy.
