DIMO, the exclusive authorized distributor of TATA vehicles in Sri Lanka, has successfully completed the delivery of 134 TATA Xenon Yodha cabs to the Sri Lanka Police, enhancing operational mobility and service capabilities throughout the Northern Province.
The official handover event took place at the Presidential Secretariat, presided over by His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the President of Sri Lanka. The ceremony was attended by notable officials including Hon. K.M. Ananda Wijepala, Minister of Public Security, Hon. Sunil Watagala, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. D.W.R.B. Seneviratne, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security, Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya, Inspector General of Police, and Hon. Santosh Jha, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. DIMO was represented by Mr. Rajeev Pandithage, Executive Director, Mr. Mahesh Karunaratne, Chief Operating Officer for Automotive Engineering Solutions, Mr. Sampath Kumarasinghe, Deputy General Manager for TATA Commercial Vehicle Sales, Mr. Abhijeet Das Sharma, Regional Manager for SAARC, Mr. Aleemuddin Sayed, Country Head for Sri Lanka and Bhutan, and Mr. Rahib Khan, Deputy General Manager for International Business in Sri Lanka and Bhutan from TATA Motors, India.
This fleet was provided by the Government of India as a symbol of ongoing friendship and collaboration between India and Sri Lanka, reinforcing the historical bilateral relationship while aiding public service operations in the region.
The 134 TATA Xenon Yodha cabs have been allocated specifically to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Sri Lanka Police in the Northern Province. These vehicles are anticipated to improve transportation efficiency, access to remote areas, and the overall effectiveness of daily policing, patrolling, and community service efforts in the area.
The TATA Xenon Yodha was chosen for its reliability and capability in challenging operational settings. It features a robust diesel engine, heavy-duty suspension, high ground clearance, substantial payload capacity, and a sturdy chassis, making it suitable for diverse terrain. Additionally, its roomy interior, focus on utility, fuel efficiency, and low operating costs render it ideal for police and public service tasks. The vehicles were customized to fulfill the specific operational needs of the Sri Lanka Police, including custom canopies and dual seating arrangements designed for effective personnel transport.

DIMO effectively coordinated the project through stakeholder engagement, vehicle supply and delivery management, technical preparations, quality control, and logistical support, ensuring the fleet was deployed on time.
