Dr. Dissanayake has an extensive background in both the public and private sectors, having held leadership roles at Aitken Spence PLC and its subsidiaries, as well as national port management and advisory positions. His international recognition includes being the first non-British President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (UK) and participating in United Nations maritime advisory initiatives.
