The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in partnership with the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Melbourne, successfully launched the country’s inaugural national pavilion at Fine Food Australia 2026. This event took place from August 31 to September 3, 2026, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
This significant participation is a crucial advancement in enhancing Sri Lanka’s footprint within the Australian food and beverage sector. It provided a specialized venue for Sri Lankan exporters to present their offerings, connect with global buyers, and seek new business avenues.
Occupying 90 square meters, the Sri Lanka Pavilion featured 12 food and beverage companies from Sri Lanka, including both well-established exporters and emerging small and medium-sized enterprises. The pavilion highlighted a wide array of Sri Lankan products such as Ceylon Tea and coffee, Ceylon Cinnamon and spices, coconut-based items, processed foods and beverages, seafood, baked goods, frozen foods, fruits, rice-based drinks, natural and herbal products, and various value-added food items.
Representatives from notable companies including Akbar Brothers (Pvt) Ltd, Perera and Sons Bakers (Pvt) Ltd, Link Natural Products (Pvt) Ltd, Coconut Taprobane (Pvt) Ltd, Sobako Products (Pvt) Ltd, Derana Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd, K & D Foods International (Pvt) Ltd, HJS Condiments Limited, Ocean Foods Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd, Saya International Tea and Food Exports (Pvt) Ltd, Tradlanka Agricultural Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd, and Ceylon Coco Infresh (Pvt) Ltd participated in the pavilion.
The official opening of the Sri Lanka Pavilion was conducted by the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne, accompanied by EDB representatives, members from Sri Lankan Chamber Associations in Melbourne, and the participating companies. During the four-day exhibition, the pavilion garnered significant interest from Australian and international importers, distributors, retailers, food service operators, and various industry stakeholders. Sri Lankan companies seized the opportunity to showcase their products, engage in business discussions, identify potential buyers, and explore avenues for market access, distribution, and sourcing collaborations.
This premier trade event served as a vital platform for showcasing Sri Lanka’s strengths in value-added food processing, high-quality production, and sustainably sourced food products, while enhancing the visibility of Sri Lankan brands in the Australian market. The EDB’s inaugural national pavilion was further complemented by the participation of other Sri Lankan firms that exhibited independently at the event. Both the Sri Lanka Pavilion and the independent exhibitors gained attention through official communication channels and social media platforms.
The EDB expresses gratitude for the support and collaboration provided by the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Melbourne, participating exporters, and various stakeholders including Sri Lankan Chambers in Melbourne, which contributed to the success of Sri Lanka’s national pavilion at Fine Food Australia.
The positive outcomes of this event are anticipated to bolster ongoing efforts to increase Sri Lanka’s food and beverage exports to Australia, enhance business connections, and create new opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters within the Australian and broader Asia-Pacific markets.
The EDB remains committed to facilitating market development initiatives and supporting participation in international trade fairs aimed at linking Sri Lankan exporters with global buyers, thereby fostering sustainable growth in exports.
