Emirates is enhancing its acclaimed Premium Economy service with the introduction of the world’s first electrically adjustable Premium Economy seat, which features a full-height privacy screen between each seat. This innovation will debut on the newly acquired Airbus A350 aircraft, merging state-of-the-art technology with superior comfort to allow passengers increased control over their personal space.
The Premium Economy section in the Emirates A350 is configured in a spacious 2-3-2 layout, accommodating just 28 seats. This latest addition signifies the airline’s commitment to continuously improving customer experience. The electric privacy divider, extending fully to the height of the seat, is a unique feature in Premium Economy cabins globally. Each seat offers a comfortable width of 20 inches and a pitch of up to 39 inches, allowing for reclining without encroaching on the space of the seat behind, enabling passengers to sleep and relax in comfort during their journey.
Passengers can easily adjust the divider using seat controls, allowing them to create a more private environment for relaxation, dining, or work during the flight. This seat marks Emirates’ first fully electrically powered Premium Economy seat, allowing travelers to adjust their seating position at the touch of a button via the integrated Passenger Control Unit, which includes specific settings for lounge and meal modes.
Comfort has been further refined with the introduction of Emirates’ well-regarded U-Dream headrest, designed by Safran Seats. Made from leather, this redesigned headrest offers superior neck and head support, with adjustable wings for personalized comfort. Additionally, a manually deployable leather footrest enhances relaxation and minimizes leg fatigue.
For the first time in Premium Economy, wireless charging is available, enabling passengers to conveniently charge compatible devices throughout the flight. Each seat is equipped with USB-C charging ports and a practical tray table featuring an integrated phone holder, allowing personal devices to serve as a second screen for meals or entertainment.
Travelers can also take advantage of Emirates’ award-winning ice inflight entertainment system on a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen, offering exceptional picture quality and quick navigation. The new Airbus A350 aircraft will provide enhanced views from aircraft cameras, featuring new exterior perspectives in addition to the existing forward and downward cameras for a more immersive flying experience.
The new seating also continues Emirates’ tradition of providing generous meals and beverages in Premium Economy. Passengers can expect an experience akin to Business Class, with gourmet, regionally-inspired menus crafted by Emirates’ chefs, served on Royal Doulton fine china, complete with linen napkins and stainless-steel Robert Welch cutlery.
On long-haul flights, Premium Economy passengers receive exclusive amenity kits, designed in collaboration with United for Wildlife. These reusable kits, made from bio-based materials such as cactus leather alternatives, celebrate endangered wildlife and include premium plant-based skincare products from Aveda for the first time in this class. Each kit also contains travel essentials like socks, eye masks, earplugs, and a dental kit, with a focus on sustainable materials throughout the collection.
Since the launch of Premium Economy in 2022, Emirates has expanded this cabin across its fleet, making it available in all markets served by A350 aircraft. Drawing inspiration from its Business Class experience, Emirates Premium Economy has established a new standard in the industry, providing unparalleled comfort, privacy, and sophistication that competes with Business Class offerings from other airlines. The cabin features spacious seating, ample legroom, refined dining, and world-class entertainment, earning multiple accolades, including ‘Best Premium Economy Class’ at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards for 2024 and 2025, as well as ‘Airline with the Best Premium Economy Class’ at the 2025 ULTRAs Awards.
The launch of the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat with a full-height privacy screen represents another milestone in Emirates’ history of aviation innovation. From pioneering onboard connectivity and inflight Wi-Fi to introducing advanced entertainment systems and consistently enhancing customer comfort, Emirates is dedicated to providing products that enable customers to Fly Better.
