Fairfax Increases Investment in Sri Lanka’s John Keells Holdings

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Canada-based Fairfax Financial Group has expanded its investment in John Keells Holdings, a prominent Sri Lankan company, according to market sources. This increase in stake was facilitated through HWIC Asia Fund, solidifying Fairfax’s position as the largest shareholder with a 25.5 percent ownership in JKH.

Meanwhile, another significant development in the shareholder landscape involves Norges Fund 2, Norway’s sovereign wealth fund. Previously holding a 1.1 percent stake in John Keells Holdings, equivalent to 188 million shares, Norges Fund 2 has reportedly divested its shares, as per market sources. (Colombo/Feb5/2026)
