FitsAir has received official certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), allowing the airline to conduct in-house Airbus A320 pilot type training. This certification affirms FitsAir’s adherence to CAASL’s stringent aviation training standards and enables the airline to offer a comprehensive range of pilot training programs.

With this approval, FitsAir is authorized to conduct various training programs, including Cadet Pilot and Junior First Officer initial training, A320 aircraft conversion and re-qualification for both current and non-current pilots, A330/A320 cross crew qualification, and TRI/SFI training. This enables the airline to develop its own certified flight instructors. Additionally, FitsAir can now offer A320 license revalidation and renewal programs. All training will utilize CAASL-approved Airbus A320 Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs), ensuring world-class, regulation-compliant instruction in line with global aviation standards.

The certification represents a significant advancement in FitsAir’s operational and human capital development strategy. It allows for greater control, efficiency, and consistency in pilot training, reducing reliance on overseas facilities and supporting the long-term growth of aviation expertise in Sri Lanka.

“This capability marks a step change in our training framework and our ability to scale the business,” stated Ammar Kassim, Executive Director of FitsAir. He further explained, “We are deeply committed to operational excellence and to empowering Sri Lankans who aspire to fly. By bringing Airbus A320 type training in-house, we enhance training quality, improve flexibility, and build a stronger pipeline of skilled pilots for both FitsAir and the wider aviation industry, while contributing meaningfully to the national economy.”
